Welcome! I'm Eleanor, a qualified Makaton tutor, experienced educator, and mum of three, including my youngest, Ava — my brilliant daughter who happens to have Down syndrome and is a proud Makaton user.
Makaton has transformed how we communicate as a family. It's more than signs and symbols — it's about connection, understanding, and giving everyone a voice. I’m here to help others discover the power of Makaton, whether you’re a parent, teacher, carer or just curious to learn more.
A Bit About Me
Before becoming a Makaton tutor, I was a maths teacher and am a qualified Professional Development Lead. I’ve spent years helping people learn and grow — and now, through Makaton, I get to combine my love of teaching with something deeply personal.
I’ve used Makaton daily with Ava since she was a baby. It’s opened doors for her and our whole family. That lived experience is at the heart of everything I do — practical, real-life training that makes a difference.
Training
All sessions are friendly, supportive, and packed with practical tips. You don’t need any prior experience — just an open mind and a willingness to learn!
- Level 1 Training – £85
Ideal for beginners. Learn the core signs and symbols that form the foundation of Makaton. - Level 2 Training – £85
Builds on Level 1 with more vocabulary and deeper understanding. - Taster Sessions – £10
A fun, informal introduction to what Makaton is and how it works. Great for individuals or groups.
Bespoke Sessions

What is Makaton?
Makaton is a unique language programme that uses signs, symbols and speech to support communication. It helps people who have communication difficulties to understand and be understood.
